Hi folks,
I have a '16 SR5 4R and we are looking at a newer one (2018-2021 or so due to color package and CarPlay integration), but I know that in 2018 or so Toyota starts getting a lot of TSS stuff that I'm not interested in. Is there a way to disable the TSS suite (radar cruise, collision sensors, adaptive lane control, etc.)?
I want it gone and want to be able to unplug the hardware and remove it should I desire. I read one another thread here from 5-6 years ago that someone said that TechStream could disable it, but as I have not used TechStream (have used VCDS, HPTuners, etc.) I don't know if this was true, since these TSS models have been out for several years now and perhaps there are techs here who have done it to their own or various customer rigs.
Bumpers with no provisions for sensors (and blocking the radar sensor due to pushbars), etc. are in the future for the new rig, and I just don't like the babysitting feature of all this added safety stuff. I know how to physically disable the OnStar-type SOS call system, but I'd like to get the future new rig electronically rolled back to a more simple time without all the nonsense. Can I purchase TechStream and hack it myself, or what are my options?
