HIDs in Fogs

This may be a stupid question, but I have looked around and have not seen a definite answer. One of my fog lights went out the other day, so I have been thinking about what I am going to do to fix it. The stock fog lights seem like projectors, so would you be able to put a xenon bulb inside of them? If so, what size?

it is possible if you wanna spend money. the bulbs are h3s so whatever kit you find just make sure they are compatible... i have it done but you gotta make evrything waterproof and safe so it doesnt ruin them. i think it adds a unique look. they are technically not projrctor though they look like it.

I just ordered an 8000k kit for my headlights. You think I should match the fogs with my headlights? Also, how could I waterproof the foglights? Will I have to buy 2 new ballasts for the fogs? Or could I somehow make them work with the ballasts from the headlights...

you cannot run headlights and fog lights together on one ballast. if you wanted all 4 lights essentially to be hids you will need 4 ballast.

Elton, they are 55 watt 8000k so they will be much less blue than the 35 watt. Okay, I didnt think you could run 4 lights off 2 ballasts. Thanks for all the info guys

i just recently installed 8k on my 01 4r, both lows and fogs. i absolutely love the look!! I bought the h3 bulb instead of the h3c bulb (c=compact). it was too much of a hassle to return them and wait for them to get their next shipment of h3c bulbs, so i just cut out a hole in my housing, this way the end of the bulbs and wires would fit. i have yet to seal the hole, but i as soon as i figure out a good way i will post. i can take a picture of how the hole looks if your in the same situation.

Be sure to let us know how crappy your visibility is at night during a heavy rain, snow or fog with those 8000K lamps. And be honest...

I trashed my 5000K lamps after 2 rainy nights in my 3rd gen. Nothing but 2500K in my 4 vehicles that have fogs.

Crappy? yea right, they are perfect/bright in the rain and fog! Haven't been in a snow storm yet, but will be this weekend!.. maybe ur 5k were CHEAP? DAMAGED? who knows, who cares..

There seems to be a lot of hating on the 8000k bulbs haha. But I will be sure to let ya'll know how they are once I get them. I ordered them on Sunday from DDM Tuning and the status still says PROCESS... So I have no idea when they will ship or when they will get to my house. I'm really excited though, and can't wait to put them in.
