Sort of pricy, but excellent quality: Try lightwerkz.net or Retrofit source. They carry quality components. Morimotos bulbs (capsules) are good (I've had them for over a year now without problems). Ballasts are ok (having small issues *radio static which is annoying*, but they work just fine), My other car has Densos (ballasts) and those are great.

I got some of the DDM's a few months ago but the bulbs are too long for either the fogs or low beams in my 2005. Won't fit

Clear view digital on Amazon is a much better source for cheap HID's than DDM. I will never purchase from DDM again, their customer service is non existent and now that they ship from China it takes weeks to get the lights.

depends on if you want white or blue lights? anything over 6000k is approaching halogen lumen output again so kinda waste.

unless he is doing a true HID retrofit with HID projectors then buying expensive Phillips bulbs are a waste of money IMO because so much light output is wasted in reflector style halogen head lamps.

they are great for the price, make sure you get the slim ballast too, i would go with the 5000k if you want white white, i have 6000k from DDM and they are white but if its cold they are a little blueish.

in halogen head lamps, yes you will more than likely get flashed regardless of color temp.

Just get some and aim your headlights down some.
I've been running ddm tuning ones for 2 years now with zero issues. I have 5000k low beams and 3000k fogs.

How would i do that? Wouldn't that create even less output?

Output would be better going with a 5000k bulb. (5000K vs. 6000k). Aiming your headlights a bit downward would decrease glare. Go with the 5000K, you get more lumens than a 6000K.

There is no functional benefit in going with higher color temperature HID kit. Yes you will get more blue color out of your HID lights and it might look cool, but the higher you go in color temperature you lose usable light output. The brightest and most functional is always going to be 4300k. This is the color temperature that manufacturers use in vehicles equipped with OEM HID headlights.

i had to post in this thread
in my commuter car (1999 camry) the oem (13 years i know!!) halogens were really dim so i hopped on the HID train and got a pair of vvme 6k hb2/9003/h4's and i was impressed by them.. they are great for driving in dry conditions and make sure you properly aim them
that being said, in the rain or fog or any kind of air moisture they are TERRIBLE!!! makes me want to get a pair of good osram halogens for the winter.. but being in socal i cant justify spending another 40 just another pair of bulbs.
***my camry doesnt have foglights: may effect what i see from behind the wheel
