If you are looking for high quality halogen bulbs, take a look at these performance halogen bulbs. We carry both Osram Night breaker plus bulbs and Philips X-Treme vision bulbs. These bulbs are rated at the same wattage as your stock bulbs so they will not run any hotter than your stock bulbs.

That is called glare and it's because your Camry head lamps can't focus the beam.

all reflectors will cause glare when used with HIDS... derp
and yes they can focus the beam, it has something called fluted lens so it does scatter the light in a horizontal manner

i installed 6k bulbs, and thanks for the suggestions

dont get me wrong, i love driving at night with them. its just a proven fact that there is barely any light output in the rain with 6k hids. its just that most people get HID to get away from the yellow light output and usually go above 4300K (optimal light output) just to get into the while light. at that point you lose on the distance that the light pitches.

however, if you do get hids for the only the extra light, and not color and can see perfectly fine in the rain, then good job and im happy for you lol.

just dont get 6k in reflectors hoping that you will see just as well in the rain.
 
trust me i know about fluted lenses, but they are not designed to focus HID beams. the way the light is dispersed from an HID differs from a halogen that is why halogen head lamps wont work properly. its not because the HID's are brighter, its simply the way the light is emitted. if you want i can source some very informative articles on how they differ.

im sure you are correct in that the halogen light disperses differently vs hid, but i can assure you they are aimed properly and not towards the sky.

what im getting from your arguments is that you can see fine with your HID's in the rain, correct?
if you can that's great (what bulb temp?) so i know for next time

yes they can be aimed but not effectively, i dont have any problem seeing in the rain but i am running 5000k lights. i think your camry lights may not have glare caps on them, that could be why you are getting excessive glare in the rain though.

what do you mean by glare caps? i think the temperature difference is a big factor in what we see, so i probably went a bit too white..
it is true that i dont have the idea housing for HIDs but im 100% the color temp is 70-80% of the problem in the rain. ill probably go back to some osram (german) halogens next, but if i decide to go HID again it will be 4300. if i remember ill be sure to post about it lol

any other people in here running hids on 5th gen 4runners? any night time shots? and experiences in the rain?

EDIT: to answer OP, i would rather go with 5k then 6k (i have 6k)

by glare cap do you mean something similar to a glare shield? if so, yes my bulbs are fitted with them (also bixenon, so that might effect it)

and yea i know the difference between 6k and 5k. what i mean is the amount of pitch each temperature has in the rain.

i think i actually have seen graphs showing that info on lighting forums.
 
blizz86: Lower kelvin temperatures bulbs will enable you to see better in the rain. If you would like to get 4300k bulbs please let me know and I will do my best to help you out on the price.
