Hello all,
4Runner 2001, 75000 miles - is my new ride. Took it to San Bernardino trail - great ride except, once getting high in the mountains (altitude about 3500-5000 feet and temp about 90-95F) strong gas smell came from under the vehicle. No leaks or drops, just a smell.
I understand that high altitude build exceeded pressure in the fuel system, and it was confirmed by opening tank cap and release pressure 2-3 times during trip...
Questions:
1. Could it be because 13 years old car fuel system especially rubber pipes - if any and clamps need to be changed?
2. Is there any valve which supposed to equal pressure in those cases, which probably needs to be changed?
3. Any other fixes for that issue?
