High-beam mod?

If I remember correctly, I think they are about as big around as a quarter - could be wrong, been many years since I've seen one. I'm guessing you would have to mount it in that foot rest, do you normally drive with your foot on that or on the floorboard?

I really don't think a floor switch is going to work out well but I have a few surefire behavioral mods that will make using the stalk super easy on your 4runner

10 and 2 mod. Not only does this mod put your hands just right for the switches but it gives you that nostalgic/awkward feeling of being a teenager.

Walking mod. Just walk where you want to go instead of driving. After a few miles your arms and shoulders will loosen up and flicking that stalk will be cake.

Drink a tall glass of apathy before getting in your car. Warning! not only will this mod delete your high/low beam switch it will render all other features useless as well.

Couldn't an old switch just be pulled out of a junkyard car. Surely there must be some left in decent shape.

TBH though, I never gave those floor mounted switches a second look so I don't know how they are constructed/mounted or how they could be swapped into a Runner.

Think I might go prowl around the local pick & pulls and see what's out there.

You can pick one up for an old Jeep CJ brand new for about $20 if you don't want to scour the junkyards.

I keep my feet on the floor. So it should work out well.

I'm an old dog — I don't want to learn new tricks ;)

It's off a CJ--one of the great off-road vehicles of all time. I love my '71 FordWillys do Brasil CJ5 and you should be honored to have one of its parts in your rig. It was after the CJ's the brand went to the crapper.

Correct, CJ's gave birth to FJ's, which gave birth to 4wd Hi-Lux, which spawned our trucks.

And if the "Jeep" thing bugs ya, there were oh, several million GM cars that used that same switch. Ever notice the steering column in a Jeep built after 76 is a Saginaw? Same Key and everything!

I don't know why some here think its such a bad idea? My motor home uses one, only not for the high beams. Instead it has the dimmer on the stalk, and uses the floor dimmer to flash the roof mounted marker lights. Both out puts go to the same thing, but when you step on the switch there is a momentary break in the circuit as the mechanical connection switches over. Its Brilliant!
