High Clearance Swing-Out Hitch Carrier

Just wanted to share an idea that I came up with and built. Would be a great product

Idea came from the crappy regular hitch carrier that I bought for my last trip. It was low and stuck out very far behind the truck. I modified it to make it shorter and taller, but once you loaded it with gear, you couldn't open the lift gate.

I dont plan on running tires larger than 33's, so a swing out tire carrier just doesn't make any sense when the tire is perfectly happy and creating a lower CG under the truck. So... swing out Hitch Carrier! And use the flat plate on the back as a table!

Going to be using this on my 7 day trip to Death Valley next week. We'll see how she works!

Very cool concept, and looks super well built. Thanks for sharing. We like the idea of having a hitch-mounted swing-out if you don't need a spare tire carrier too.

The one thing we haven't found too many good options for is the cargo basket itself. The 1UpUSA cargo basket is the nicest I've come across (aside from your custom one). If anyone else has experience with a hitch-mounted cargo basket that doesn't suck, let us know.

On our UltraqSwing the secondary hitch that swings can accommodate a cargo basket or bike rack, while also being able to directly mount Rotopax or a Waterport whatever else you want to carry to the front side.

For anyone looking for more information on a hitch-mounted, swing-out carrier, the UltraSwing can meet similar needs while keeping weight to a minimum.
