High idle 2001 after maf swap

Just swapped my maf after getting p0171 code and horrid mpg, now it's idle I. Park is around 1400-1500 rpm in park, but in gear it seemed normal. Does feel to have some more pep when I press the gas or put in gear.

Few weeks ago I cleaned the throttle body which was not very dirty at all. Not sure what it's called but I removed the cap on the back side of the throttle body, it has a plastic plate under spring pressure. I think I reinstalled it correctly, there where paint markings on the slotted screw holes.
Any way, it idled 7-800 in park after that. But now after only changing the maf and disconnecting the battery it's idle is over 1500.

Don't panic. Disconnecting the battery forces the ECU to relearn everything. It sometimes takes a little time for everything to settle in.

If it doesn't, a loose vacuum hose is often the culprit for a high idle. Check them all.

Just give it a few days, computer needs to re-learn. Should come back down to normal.

Just fired it back up after a 15 mile drive to get some dinner and it's back to normal.

This happened to me after MAF cleaning to remove the same code. Went away, and came back, then went away again and now is back to around an 800rpm idle.

Disconnected the battery and let the ecu reset itself and all has been well for almost 5k miles :guitar3:

I could be crazy but it seems to be driving so much better now, feels a little faster and even moves under its own power in drive without pressing the gas to get it moving.
So easy to love these trucks when they work good
