High idle after tune-up

Here is the list of what I did:

Spark Plugs
Wires
Distributor cap/rotor
cleaned throttle body
Cleaned K&N air filter


Amsoil full synthetic swap
Including:
Oil & Filter
transmission
transfer case
front and rear diff
lubricate propeller shaft

Ever since I did this tune-up my truck has been idling high on start up and not idling normally until Im at operating temperature, even on warm days. There must be a way to adjust the idle, im just not sure what it is.
I know how to adjust a carburetor but not sure about the 4Runner.

Can someone give me a little advice and maybe some steps to follow?

There should be a screw on the side of the fuel injection system.

Sounds more like a sensor problem, unless it's the auto choke and it's never worked before on your rig until after the tuneup.

Ok I figured out what the problem is and I have a warning for others out there.

After cleaning out the throttle body with "throttle body cleaner" some of the residue chemical must have come into contact with the rubber of the tube that goes from the air box to the throttle body because I discovered a crack in it where the clamp is, like the rubber shrunk and then split down the side.

So be carefull when cleaning out the throttle body. I cant remember what the brand of cleaner I used was, maybe CNC? that rings a bell.

So this just gives me an excuse to do the ISR Mod..... not that I really needed one.

I still have a high idle until the motor reaches its operating temperature and then it idles at about 800 or so. There is an idle adjustment screw on the side of the throttle body so I used that to adjust it to how it is now at operating temererature but its still idling pretty high on initial start up even when its 30 degrees celcius out.

So I used throttle body cleaner and Im thinking that when I did that I loosened up alot of gunk in there and that I should probably clean it again. Last time I used some stuff from NAPA made by a company called CNC I think. After I cleaned it I drove it for 10 minutes or so.

Does Seafoam work the same way? just open up the throttle body and spray the heck out of it until the can is empty then jump in and go for a long drive to get it all out?

I used Seafoam on my 95 V6, its not a spray, you find a vacumn line to the intake, stick it in the can, suck 1/3 of it out, let it sit, and run the crap out of the engine for a few miles, works wonders, cured a few issues i had been having, definitly a must if your engine is running weird.

I too have an idle issue. My 91 V6 idles at 800 when warm (in neutral) but idles at about 600 in drive. I did the SeaFoam treatment once and it started idling in drive at 800rpms....not long after though, it dropped back to 600 in DRIVE. Should I adjust the idle while its in drive (because of the load in the engine) or should I adjust it slightly whlile it is in neutral/park?

ok, I'll have to pick up a can of seafoam and give it a shot sometime.

It might be normal for the rpm to drop from 800 to 600 when putting the truck into drive. I think that happens with automatic transmissions. I could be wrong though but the good thing about this forum is someone will correct me if I am.

its 100% normal for an auto to idle lower in drive than in neutral. more parts of the transmission are ingaged in D than in N so there is more load on the engine.
