High miles

I'm obviously a learning newbie so please bare with me guys... My question is when we're looking to buy a 3rd gen 4Runner do you consider 150k or 160k miles too high? I'm buying a daily driver and not an off-roader and from what I'm seeing miles don't really mean much to people....

mine had 190k when i got it and i didnt even flinch.

it depends who you buy from...a well cared vehicle will take care of you in return

I'm thinking of selling my 98 with 225K to get a 'low mileage' 150K model.

I say it time and time again. I bought my first 3rd Gen with 190K on it, my current one I bought with 187K on it. Just look to see what's been done. I have less problems with my "high mile" 4Runners then we do with my wife's Pathfinder with 63K on it.

got mine w 95k november 2007, im now at 209k and literally cannot tell a difference in how the engine runs. changing your oil and doing preventative maint will make these 5vz's last a LONG TIME. im shooting for at least 400k.

No problem, good luck with your search for a 4Runner.

AmStaff's are great dogs. My Mother in Law has a 14 year old Staffy, he's the best dog you'll ever meet. My APBT is still young, he'll be 3 in November, super sweet, he's just a big puppy.

My 98 just turned 256,000 miles.

I put on about 2K per month.

I only changed oil every 10K ( mobil 1 ), change transmission fluid with it.

I replaced radiator at 229K, timing belt every 90K with waterpump.

Only problems have been rear axel seal, starter, attenna.

Lots of brakes. My front rotors tend to warp often and I have to replace those when I do my brakes, but that is cheap to do.

150k is considering average miles. 180-190 is getting high, and 100-115 ish is considered low. Go by the maintanence history, but you might be better off getting a cheaper 200k mile truck, and then using the saved money to do a bunch of maintanence because when you change all the bushings, brakes, fluids, clutch, tune up, wheel bearings, u-joints, t-belts, Shocks, springs and Ball joints then its like a new truck again, so you either buy it and have like 50-75k miles before you hit most of this list, or you can get a cheaper truck do this then not have to worry about anything for another 200k or so!
