High pitch whistle/squeal when throttle is past 1/3 way to the floor

Does it while driving, does it in neutral

I have the stock air box and filter

It's not RPM, it's not speed, it's pedal position. Something is happening, at any RPM, any speed, that when I press the pedal past 1/3 the way to the floor, I get this squeal. Gets higher pitch the further to the floor I go, until it goes to the floor, squeals very high pitch, and then it stops intermittently. And when I back off the pedal slowly the squeal comes back until I bring the pedal back below 1/3. The squeal starts as soon as the pedal goes past 1/3 and before the RPMs catch up or the trans shifts.

I don't drive hard and for the first 4 years of owning it, I never went past 1/3 to the floor. Now that im driving long trips and often up mountain roads, i get it all the time

I imagine it has something to do with the air box or throttle body. Probably air box but no visible damage or misalignment

I will have someone give it a rev in N while I listen, but thought I'd ask in case anyone has had this experience. I cant tell if this is a whistle or squeak

Doesn't sound like the usual belt squeal, sh* I hope it's not a bearing, would be my last guess since even a quick press and release of the pedal will cause the squeal the instant i goes past 1/3 way to the floor

Possible vaccuum leak at high throttle. All the hoses not cracked or ripped. Maybe a crack in line that's opening up under high throttle. Thus why you only hearing it when its opening up.

Sometimes even the air box to throttle body hoses cracks and leaks there as well.

My gut is telling me vacuum leak. But damn if it isnt a consistent squeal with no variation

Ill look over the hoses when I have someone rev it in N

It has to be a very small hole. Ill replace the hoses, they arent expensive

You can just grab the throttle linkage and rev it yourself while looking under the hood.

Have you considered the tranny and the tranny cable position? Is it possibly tranny?

Its possible it's the transmission or something else. Just have to do process of elimination on this one.

Un-do the tranny cable from the linkage (1 nut) and then test.

Wouldn't necessarily eliminate the tranny completely, but might provide info that would implicate that tranny.

a pinhole in the muffler will do the same thing (and is common)

Makes a different sound/harder to replicate when cold

Rev'ed it by hand, didnt happen. Pressed the pedal, got it to whistle but i imagine it was a bit warmer by then

Trying again today with equal conditions - warmed
