Higher miles t4r...What wt oil?

What weight oil would you use in a higher mileage 3.4l v6 4runner. Over 150k miles and runs perfectly.

I'd probably stick with 5w-30. I think the weight of the oil is less of a concern with (relatively) high mileage engines; it's more the additives that clean and prevent leaks that are in products sold as "high mileage" oil.

I'll add that I use Mobil 1 "synthetic" in my rig. But I'm sure you can find people on here that think that that's a waste of money, bad for your engine, kills puppies, etc.:flamewar:

I've got 270K miles and I use standard 10w30. No issues at all. If you change it every 3-5K miles I think you can use just about whatever you want. I have never bought into the 'high mileage' oils. Its a waste of money and that's a fact. (Let the :flamethrwoer2: begin.)

I bought a case of the Toyota oem oil filters and have always used castrol 10w40 but think the 40w may be too thick

I ran Castrol high mileage 10w30 year round in my Runner with from 200k up...same in my Tacoma from 182k-255k

I have 240K and use 10-30W. I generally buy what is on sale, and i never run synthetic. i have tried to switch over and it just causes oil leaks. I will run high mileage castrol when on sale. and i always use a Fram filter. the rubber grip helps get it off.
