What mileage do you change rear diff oil?
2004 Sport v8 165500 miles. Been having issues with it. Been to the dealership 5 times in 6 weeks. Going in tomorrow to have blinking tire pressure sensor checked, rattle underneath checked, most likely a loose heat shield. Also have to get a squeaking checked. I love this thing but have been dropping money lately on repairs. Pass few weeks I replaced timing belt and water pump, intermediate shaft replaced and new battery. Hopefully after tomorrow's visit she will be running great again. Only thing that sucks is living in the Northeast with all the salt they use in the wintertime. This will rust itself to failure.
If you have a mechanic fix every little thing on an older vehicle it's going to put you in the poor house. I understand the TB/WP but you should try fixing some things yourself. The TPMS mod is super easy. On mine, the rattling was the muffler heat shield which I ripped off.

Hit 300,000 miles a few days ago on my 2003. I bought it from my father-in-law, the original owner, in April of 2015, at which time it had 247K on it. He replaced it with a 2015 Trail (can I be next in line for that one, too??). I was nervous buying a vehicle with that many miles, and thought, "Maybe I'll get a couple years out of it." Shortsighted thought in hindsight. Love this thing, and I believe it still has a lot of life left. :boxer:

I have complete maintenance records from day one. Previous owner serviced it almost solely at a dealership. Reading through everything, it seems he got taken by them on numerous occasions – air cabin filter just about every other oil change, trans flushes at short intervals, etc. But…it runs great, so I guess I’m the recipient of a vehicle that’s been “over-maintained” to some degree. Since I've owned it, I've had a dealership do some work, but I try to do as much of it as I can on my own (new territory for me). For those of you who are curious, here's the non-fluids/brakes/tires/battery, etc. maintenance (i.e. some of the wear items and other random things):
11/5/2008; 123,154 miles: Driver’s side door latch assembly /actuator
4/28/2010; 162,123 miles: A/C relay. Both CV axles.
6/5/2010; unknown miles: Driver’s side mirror
7/14/2010; 169,775 miles: Reseal oil pan
4/26/2011; 192,592 miles: Driver’s side exhaust manifold, cat, O2 sensor. (Did they first try just replacing the O2 sensor? Doubtful.)
3/26/2013; 217,683 miles: Passenger side valve cover gasket. (Really wish they would’ve just replaced both. I have oil on my #6 plug.)
12/12/2013; 229,227 miles: Rear main oil seal.:wow: Front calipers.
3/27/2015; 246,278 miles: Driver’s side visor

11/13/2015; 258,260 miles: Driver’s side CV axle. Idler pulley.
6/16/2016; 272,800 miles: Passenger side DRL/blinker socket
9/7/2016; 277,565 miles: Driver’s side DRL/blinker socket
10/30/2016; 279,516 miles: Front driver’s side wheel bearing
2/12/2017; 286,163 miles: All shocks and springs. Rear sway links a bit later.
3/11/2017; 287,227 miles: Serpentine belt
Windshield replaced in ’05, ’07, and ’09.
Fluids replaced at typical intervals. Oil is and has always been conventional Toyota 5w30 at 5K mile intervals. I don’t know what was going on, but they did complete transmission flushes at 80,021, 91,209, and 118,441.
Current issues or things to be addressed: Oil on #6 spark plug, passenger side CV axle leaks a bit, sheared ignition coil bolt that I haven’t been able to extract, floppy shifter (doesn’t stay in 3rd, flops back to D), overhead DVD player randomly tries to play / won’t turn off, and P0420 code continuously pops up. Before P0420 started, I got P2238 a couple times, so I’ll start with O2 sensor(s) and see what happens.
Keys to getting high mileage: 1) Drive a lot. 2) Don’t get in a wreck. :cowboy:

It started leaking a month after i left the oil stop fluid in there. filled it up and the leaked stopped from April to until this month. Now it is dripping a little more quicker , drip is coming out in front of the actuator box BUT not on the box.
another important factor is keeping up with the maintenance/preventative maintenance with the vehicle to make it last longer.

I just bought a 2008 LTD w/V8 & 4WD. It has just over 120K on the odometer and yes, there may be things that need to be fixed from time-to-time down the road but this thing feels strong. It may be my favorite vehicle ever, although I have to admit I wanted a Land Cruiser but couldn't fork out the cash for something with less than 200K miles. It's a nice change from my Tundra. I don't really need a truck any more and this thing is much easier to drive around town, park, etc.

I've had my 2003 2WD V8 Sport for almost five years and its still running strong. I got it as my first vehicle anaround 229,000 and had the timinng belt replaced shortly after, have done regular maintenance on it, and will be taking advantage of the original tires wearing out to put larger more aggressive ones on. No major issues mechanically, but radio died and of course I've had to replace the battery a few times as well as some bulbs...

I’m testing out an 08 V6 Limited 4WD w/ 208k miles and she drives perfect with no past issues besides regular maintenance. Hoping to get her to at least 300k if this deal works out! :tongue:

Dear all: my 2003 V8 Sport now has over 300,000KM (+200,000 miles). LR XREAS shock failed yesterday, will be replaced Monday. No other suspension issues. Rad replaced last Spring. RF boot replaced a month ago. All maintenance done on sched. Will need new rear lift gate next year or the next, rusting, not in a big rush, but will need to be done. Front bearings, all brake discs / pads replaced within past four years. Engine and drivetrain 100%. I don't plan to replace this superb vehicle any time soon. Cheers / Blueleezard

Just hit 230k on my 03 v8 while driving from San Diego to Flagstaff for a family trip.
Still running strong. Only issue is a leaking tcase at the actuator but it's a slow leak. Gonna tear it apart someday when I have time.
Got into a small fender bender and pushed in the passenger side corner of the front bumper. Nothing a little heat gun and some elbow grease couldn't pop back out. Looks good and fog and turn lights still working.
I love my 4r and gonna drive it for another few years and then get a tlc.
