Highest Mileage 4th Gen?

2004 Limited V8 at 242,600 and going strong. It'll get to 500,000 if I do nothing but change the tires, the oil and the diff, and replace worn brake pads

If I were you I would add to that list the timing belt every 90,000 miles.

Also if the timing belt has never been changed at least twice now or at least in the last 50,000 to 60,000 miles you're running on borrowed time, if the timing belt breaks it WILL ruin the engine, the valves will hit the pistons and then the engine need to be replaced or rebuilt, either is very, very, very expensive compared to the cost of replacing the timing belt!!

Got an 06 v8 limited $6700 in March with 224k now 227. First oil change came out clean and mechanics said couldn’t find anything to recommend fixing and no rust being from PNW. Changed front left wheel bearing(easy) and did aip bypass slyfox and new 265/70/17 k02’s

With all due respect Auseeker, the 2003-2004 v8 is a non interference motor. The design changed to interference when they added vvti in 2005. Nonetheless yes you should at some point change the tb.

If this is true it would please me to no end since I have a 2004...but all I have ever read says otherwise, although it's all hearsay just as what you have stated here is, I would love to read something "official" from Toyota or some other creditable source that would prove this without any doubt.

Can you point me to where you learned this to be a fact?

05 4runner SR5 V6, 3rd row with 195K

- replaced alt, right front caliper, right front wheel bearing, water pump, left rear shock, front sway bar links/bushings, trans flush/fill, reg oil changes every 5k

Car is running strong for the most part. I'm really impressed. It's my wife's daily and she mentioned the other day when she tried to start it the car didn't want to stay running at first. This is the first time it's happened. No CEL lit but I'll try to pull the stored ones off today.

Amazing vehicle. One of the best purchase I've ever made.

Original owner of '03 V-8 SR5 with 257,460 miles still driving on daily basis. Only 1 expensive repair: transaxle seal replaced which included a new electronic unit that communicates with the dashboard 4x4 control at 243,000miles. Also had to replace the rear latch mechanism because of dust build up that caused intermittent latching at about the same mileage as the transfer case seal and replaced the RF wheel bearing at 250,000miles. Currently getting a clunk sound, from front sway bar bushings or end links most likely. I average about 200 miles per year on easy to moderate Colorado 4x4 trails in the San Juans, with factory suspension but with 265/70/17 tires. Also own a '06 V8 SR5 Sport with 127,000 miles with 3" full coil over suspension lift on 275/70/17 BFGK02s.

2003 v6 4x4 with 277k miles

Alright, I am pretty impressed with all the high mileage 4th gen 4runners! I have a 2003 v6 4x4 with 277k miles. I am about to do the valve cover gasket and keeping my eye on the coolant since it was on low when I changed my oil last week.

I've replaced the following:
- XREAS with OME 3" lift since it was feeling soft on turns
- lower control arms since bushing were worn out (fix alignment)
- replaced camber bolts that were frozen (worst thing ever)
- one pulley that froze and the serpentine belt
- one too many O2 sensors and just did the O2 sim mods for the rears
- driver side weather strip
- trunk window weather strip
- replaced MAF due to code (not sure if that fixed it or not)
- replaced gas cap due to code (not sure if t hat fixed it or not)
- replaced subwoofer because it was blown

I am going to replace:
- valve cover gasket (leaking oil)
- pcv valve (quick fix while doing valve cover gasket)
- driver side front tie rods (worn and can't get perfect alignment)
- fender splash shields (old ones are gone/broke off)
- replace/relocate rear differential breather (looks crusty)

I'll update this if I missed anything.

My 06 4Runner

I currently have 256k on my v8, drivetrain is original expect front axles, and only replaced because it was cheaper and easier to do that than replace the torn boots.

Hello all! I just bought my third 4th gen and my first 4wd one. It is a 2008 V6 SR5 with 222,222+ miles on it. I am the 2nd owner, this thing was very well maintained by 1st owner and I’m 98% sure it was garage kept it’s whole life. It was completely stock when I purchased it. I have installed Bilstein 5100’s all around and new Moog stock 4Runner height springs in front. I also put some 255/75/17 Duratracs on it. With these tires I am wanting a little more lift now, only I hesitate to spend much more money on it due to the mileage. This is my daily driver and I just had a mechanic take a look at my front suspension and he said there isn’t anything that he sees a need to spend money on to replace. What do you guys think? I don’t really off-road except mountain dirt roads.

2nd owner of my 03' V8 Limited, purchased in '10 with exactly 70K, now closing in on 200K.

I replaced the following in the past few days

-Front rotors and brake pads, brake fluid flush
-Struts in front and shocks in back
-Inner and outer tie rods left and right side
-Stabilizer links and bushings front and back
-Also front and rear diff, transfer case, transmission, power steering drain/fill
-LCA left and right side.(Parts on order) plan on replacing this weekend
-Could use some new tires soon.

Toyota stealership has replaced the timing belt/waterpump twice under my watch. And that's it. No recall pedal cutting ECU reflashing done on my runner.

No issues really, some paint fade developing on the plastic fender flares, some cracking on driver side leather seat, but otherwise, motor and transmission still purring and interior looks almost new. :bigok:
