Highest Mileage 4th Gen?

How many sets of tires did you go through?
Any leaks? (oil/coolant)

No leaks, you would not think the 4Runner has this many miles if you drove it - still tight.
I bought the car at 170K miles, and a buddy of mine bought it at 107k miles, I'm the 3rd owner. He put a set of tires on it and I have as well. I'm assuming it had 2 before that so that makes 4. Most of my miles are driven on the highway...
I've had slightly over-sized Firestone Destination LE's on for about 70k miles and they have worn great. I should have another 10-15k on the tires, if I can be patient enough to keep driving it. I'm getting new car fever

Considering purchase on 2004 4Runner - Limited 161k miles
Looking at an 04 V8 161k miles. Decked out limited (nav, stereo, heated leather, etc. etc.) It's also lifted, new 285/70/17s, magnaflow exhaust, k&n. Everything seems solid. Deal is settling for just under $14k, and I calculated it'd cost me ~$18k to find a limited with ~100k miles and install the upgrades myself. Mechanic thinks a rebuilt engine & tranny would cost ~$5k, so I'm essentially risking ~$1k that nothing is going to crap out anytime soon.
Advice??:fishing::shrug:

In regards to the rebuilding option: I bought a 1gr v6 with 19k miles for $2200 and it took me and a buddy 30 hours to remove and replace. Only simple tools needed . As far as the v8 it's really not that much more expensive than a v6 (when I was looking anyway)

You are the last person that needs to be in the "highest mileage 4th gen thread". Its only for people that arent afraid to drive their trucks!
I have nothing else to contribute. Mine has 88k on it, and is no where near high mileage.
Hi Guys,
I just changed my fan belt for the 1st time on my 04 v6 4x4 4runner at 150,243 miles. It didn't look like it needed to be changed once I got it off but now I keep it as a spare. I don't know if aftermarket ones will last as long so I bought this replacement from the toyota dealer. On a side note I didn't change my coolant until the same mileage and the color of what I drained and filled looks exactly the same even though I drained it six times. Seems strange.
My next task it to change the differentials and transfer case fluid soon since it has never been done. I will try to post a picture when I am done.
In my opinion, this vehicle is very stout and overbuilt compared to most. I still haven't had any mechanical problems and still have original battery, alternator, rear brakes and all interior and exterior lights.
