Hilux registration?

Have a lead on a 93 RH Drive. How big a pain in the arse is it to get these registered in the US? And if it’s not a big deal I’m wondering why the importer just doesn’t register it and get a US title...seems it would be MUCH easier to sell. Sorry if this has been asked before, I frequent the 3rd gen message boards. Thanks for any information.

I had my gen 1 RHD Surf registered no problem, it doesnt have a 17 digit VIN or anything. My importer handled the actual registration to be fair though.

maybe PM @1UZrunner
He has brought over a couple of trucks from australia.
Seems like oregon was ok on one of them and a PITA for the other one.

Alot may depend on your State's DMV and the age of the vehicle.
25 years seems to be the magic number
with your's being a 93 it is probably gonna come down to the month of manufacture

If it was imported without a new title issued, itll be a PITA from what I understand. The general consensus is that you can import a vehicle to the states if it is 25 years or older and issued a new title. But because the vehicle is already in the states it may have to get "reimported." Its a stupid rule but a lot of guys from the nissan and landcruiser forums have had these issues.

Apparently this guy imports 3-4 vehicles a year. He responded to my email and says he has all the proper paperwork AND can get a US issued title for it.. it’s a 2 1/2 hour drive for me to go see it so I just wanted to be sure before I make the drive. We will see what happens.
