HIR Headlight bulb review

Last fall I ordered HIR headlight bulbs as replacement on 2003 Limited. The four pack set of 9006 and 9005's cost $105. I can report that they do not impress me. They are brighter than stock bulbs for sure, but about $95 more. The HITs are totally yellow and do not throw down the road well. The brites are intense, but what brites are not?

I just ordered a set of Silverstar Ultra's from Amazon.com for $35 shipped. I know about the relatively short life, but for $35 who cares? If I like them I don't mind replacing them for a few bucks every so often.

You should be able to get the kit for <$50 shipped, and they are a simple plug and play. There will be instructions with them (I think they have instructions on their site you can look at as well, may want to do that first). If you can change a light bulb in your house you should be able to install the HIDs, nothing difficult at all.

I've heard a lot of great things about ddm, and IMO for the price they can't be beat. They do carry a lifetime warranty, which is a plus as well. There are supposedly better "quality" kits out there, but personally I'd never buy anything other than ddm strictly due to price. You could buy 3-4 ddm tuning kits for the price of one "quality" kit. I'm no expert, but I don't see the point in spending more money when the ddm kits do just fine.

All depends on the look you want. They should have a color chart showing what the different temps look like. IMO anything above 6k doesn't look good, you start getting a blue tint. I prefer 4500-5000k for a pure white light (this will also be the brightest). Lower than 4500k will have a yellow tint, which works great for fogs.
