Hissing/Buzzing noise from under the steering column??

I have an 05 Sport V8.
As the title says, I am getting a hissing sound which seems to generate from under the steering column and eventually turns into a loud buzzing sound.

The sound does not seem to correspond to any specific activity (ie. acceleration, braking etc.). I thought it may be something related to the AC (we just moved to FL, so have been using it a lot more). However, turned the AC off - still buzzing.

It kind of comes and goes but when it's at it's worse it "buzzes" every few seconds. Very annoying!

That is a guess, but it sounds like your electric pump for brake booster or brake booster system itself has a leak.
