Hit 90,000 Miles Today, What's Next?

Hello everyone,

My 4Runner proudly turned 90,000 miles today and now I'm wondering what services are required at this mileage.

Timing belt and fluid flush is what I've seen in search so far.

Is there anything specific that might be omitted in the 90k service manual that I should consider?

Thanks.

PS. Note to self: taking a camera phone photo while driving on the highway is not one my brightest moments, I know.

At 90,000 miles I did a major tune up, change the radiator fluid, change transmission fluid, the transmission filter I bought (2 different part stores) did not fit, so I clean out the existing one. PVC valve and few other items. I did not change the timing belt yet, I thought I would wait till 120,000.

Brother..
I just did my 90K at 111K on my 97 on friday.
I have a company car so it does not get used much at all. the 90k service was over$550. plus NYS inspection, and check engine light(yes it was the o2 sensor)+ the part
I left the dealer1K poorer... no shit..
but i'm glad that i did it.
I had my belt done at 70 i never had my water pump done yet..
Fixin to drive to fla later on this month.. water pump a good idea? now or later?

I had my O2 sensor go out 2 months ago, so welcome to the club. There are two reasons people change the water pump when they change the timing belt. First leat me explain what the crazy engineers did. The decided to put the water pump inside the engine and have the timing belt run the water pump.

The first reason is, since the water pump is now so hard to get to, the biggest cost would be labor. Basically you have to remove the timing belt.

Second, if the water pump leaks, it could affect the timing belt.

So, I don't think it would be a good idea to do the water pump. It will basically cost the same as doing the timing belt, labor wise without doing the timing belt. If you did it at 70,0000, I would go to 140,000 and do both the timing belt and water pump at that time.

Just my .02 worth.
