Hit a deer, need advice

I hit a deer this morning in my 05 4runner. I was able to slow down to probably around 15 mph when I clipped his butt with the passenger side front bumper. He cracked the square section of the lower bumper cover "#25 in the attached photo", just to the right of the fog lights. My question regards the replacement of parts to fix it. The car drives fine, and I can buy the lower cover for $85 bucks.
1) Do these bumpers come painted already to match? Mine is dark blue.
2) Are there usually other parts underneath that get damaged, but don't show, like energy pads or crumple pieces? If so, can you please tell me via the numbers in the attachment?

Everything lines up fine, the lights even work.

Oh, the deer? He got up and took off, although I'm sure his butt is quite sore. He must of been suicidal because I was the only one on the road, and he jumped right out in front of me at the very last second. I can confirm, the 4runner can STOP pretty damn good! I was going 60mph, and STOOD on those brakes. ABS kicked in and it came to a stop in no time.

I don't own a 4th gen but it appears #25 is just a valance which should provide no structural integrity to anything else. Removing it is the only way to see if more damage is hiding behind it. Call the dealer to find out if the piece is already painted. Keep in mind that if you are the perfectionist type you may notice a pre painted piece will not match even though it is the same paint. Body shops can blend this for you, personally I prefer when things are not pre painted so I can get a precise color match.

I called the dealer for a quote. He said the part cost $211, but gave me a part number that comes up for the limited series only, not the SR5. The limited appears to be one piece, as where the SR5 is two (the upper cover and lower). Can anyone confirm this? Is it one or two pieces?

I don't know gunner, I hit him pretty good. Everything seems to be lined up ok. I would of thought a hit like that with nothing behind it, would of just ripped it off the car? I hope you're right though! Getting out of this for a couple c note$ would be nice. You're right, they don't come painted, which just adds another layer of hassle for me. I've got the downloaded manuals to the car, both mechanical and collision, at home. I'll see what I find tonight when I look under the car.

Either way, that deer wanted some 4runner, and he got some! Too much residential development going on in western raleigh, has tons of deer running around all over the place, at all hours of the day. Pretty dangerous actually.

Fortunately when I hit a deer I just slowed down a little and didn't even attempt to stop which resulted in just a bent license plate I'm convinced that when you try to avoid them, that is when you collide the worst. I don't even slow down when they are standing on the side of the road and I think they sense that "I will kill you" vibe:cannon:

I hit a deer once but a little faster, say 30 mph. Everything looked great from the outside, except a 2" crack in the upper bumper part. Then when I opened up the hood... The tabs that screw in and hold the headlight were broken some metal pieces were bent and some other stuff. Nothing too major, just bought a new headlight through partznet and bent back some metal pieces. A few zip ties to hold stuff and no one notices it. You might be lucky and just replace the bumper though. I would get under there and take a look around, though its probably not to bad.

Since it's a no-fault accident, my insurance rates won't go up. So, with a $250 deductible, I'm just going to let the repair shop do it. It would of cost me more than that just to get all the parts and such. I did notice a piece of plastic "good sized block" was knocked loose from behind the bumper. I believe it's #2 in the diagram. And, although I don't have the limited model, my bumper is one piece, not two as the diagram suggests. So, just gonna let the shop do it.

Good deal letting the insurance pick it up. I could use a new paint job on my front bumper so maybe i'll lower my deductible and go "deer hunting"
