HIT and F''IN RUN

Some a-hole hit my rear tail light yesterday, scratched my bumper and took off. Thankfully my girlfriend was in the car and she wrote down the license plate number. I am just so damn pissed right now, I really wish that I would have caught the person that did this. .

sorry to hear that.....sounds like you will catch that person thanks to your gf's quick actions. i also hate hit & run aholes but just calm down, and i hope everything will work out for ya. good luck!

Trust me, no beating you could throw a guy,over a car, would be worth getting arrested and having your balls broken.
Just thank your girlfriend for thinking like a guy.

Glad to here your gfriend caught em. Sorry to here that she got some whiplash when the 4runner got hit. :p
I would have no mercy, my T4R has been hit a number of times just like your situation since I bought it in march 05. Only one person was honest about it. I've given up on having it look perfect.

Ha!

I'd been the person to get the license plate number and my girlfriend the one that had thrown the beating. Hit-and-runs suck, but if you get the plates, the law will square it out.

If there is any way for me to press charges then I will be there with bells on trying to get them charged with everything under the sun. . .
 
Lucky for you that you got them, I was hit and run twice in my old car. Both times, I wasn't able to find out who did it.
 
You need to keep us informed on how it goes. All of us who have experienced similar situations in the past but never found out who did it can live vicariously through you and see the offender get what he deserves.
 
FYI---You will have a claim against the insurance for that car that hit you, however, it will be hard to prove EXACTLY who was behind the wheel. If the person doesnt voluntarily admit they were driving, then they could say they dont know who was driving. It sucks, but I have dealt with this on NUMEROUS occasions. At least you can get your damage fixed.

Yeah I figured that it will be difficult to prove who was driving. In situations like this I would be all for having the registered owner prosecuted. The way I see it, if I lend someone my car that is stupid enough to leave the scene of the offense then I need to be prosecuted for lending my car to an idiot friend.
 
i got hit too

on valentine's day last week, i got bumped and we both pulled over the side to exchanged info. turned out his right side mirror put a hole in my tail light and that was it. he was scared but i was cool. he bought me a brand new tail light. everything will work out well in this one.

but, 15 years ago, i get hit on the freeway. i step out and tell him to pull over the side and he nods. then takes off! stupid me i decide to play "dukes of hazards" and chased after him on the side streets. after about 5 minutes of intense driving, i pulled in front him in the middle of an intersection, got out of my car, pulled his car door open, told him to get out! someone calls the police and 4 patrol cars arrive within a minute or 2. turns out the hit and run driver had warrants. they arrested him and towed his car. I never heard from this case again. It was very stupid chasing this guy, but sometimes you have no fear with the adrenaline pumping. It's just not worth it though. He could have had a gun or something. My car and my life isn't worth risking over a hit and run. I've learned from this lesson. Just let it go...
 
Well the cops and the insurance company have this guy. From what they are telling me is that he is an elderly man and from what he is telling them, he left the scene because he was disoriented and scared.

Part of me feels bad because he is an elderly man, but another part of me says F HIM, he shouldn't be on the road if he can't avoid hitting parked cars. . .
