Holding hatch open (no supports, no roof rack)

Doing a job alone, so no helper to hold the hatch up.

What is the best way to get the hatch to stay fully open?

Run a rachet strap from the front end over the top? How to attach to hatch? Loop around?

Similar question for doors, actually. My car is usually parked on a slight incline, so keeping the doors open while working is a challenge. Any easy solution?

A hood prop to hold one side up while you change them is the safest. I did a broomstick and my head regrets it.

ladder to hold up the hatch, you could wedge a block of wood in there, get a stick to prop it up, there's infinite possibilities, just gotta work with what you have

I mostly use a long piece of wood as a prop for the door. Wood block would work just not sure if it bend or dent anything as there is some weight to these hatches. I just change one at time. As don't do what I did once. Disconnect the lift supports and take the hinges loose by yourself. That can be a bad situation very quickly. :/

Sounds good. Now, how about if there are no struts? Because I already removed both from a junkyard rig but now wamt to go back and get the hatch license frame/garnish?

Hmmm hood prop is nice. But how to use it for rear hatch?

Bring them with you. It doesn't take that long to re-install them
