Hole In Muffler.. Time for a Cat back?

So I can't pass my state safety inspection due to a large hole in my muffler. I don't want to deal with buying a generic muffler like flowmaster because that means I have to pay a shop to weld it on. so... I have been looking around and found a few cat backs that will just bolt on (this means I can do it myself) but I don't want to drop $350 on something if its a pos. Any opinions or experience? Should i just buy a cheap flowmaster and pay $100 for a shop to throw it on? thanks.

I ended up going with an OEM system made by Walker. The price was very good, warranty etc. plus it is bolt on. Haven't installed it yet, but plan on it this weekend. Only go this route if you're looking for an OEM quiet exhaust.

I am thinking about dumping my Gibson Muffler for something a little quieter. will follow this thread to see some options.

Like the Gibson, had it for 6 years. But it can be annoying at times. Waking kids up etc.

I was looking into the gibson. The only problem is that it fits on using a hose clamp if im correct. I am a little skeptical because it seems like that could create a place for an exhaust leak.

I don't have a catback on either 4runner but I've ran Gibson cat backs on a few other trucks and for the price, they seemed like great exhausts. They also seemed to be on the quieter end of catbacks IMHO. While I do like some V8 rumble, both 4runners are V6 and therefore I want to keep them quiet. Let us know what you go with.

Magnaflow guy here, I loved the side exit, price and availability. Just seemed right with the roll down back window to have a side exit.

I love the sound but whatever you get you might become hyper-aware of every move your automatic transmission makes
