Hole In My Gas Tank!!

Went to fill the 4Runner last night...(it's got 1k miles and I've never let the gas run down until the light comes on)...

I actually stopped filling to check if I had a leak in my tank. My '97 Runner is around $50 to fill from near empty...last night my 2007 Runner took $78 !!!!!!!!!!!

Holy Shnikeys!!! I didn't realize the '07 tank is that much bigger than the '97.

My pickup takes $100, didn't think the Runner would come close!! It's a good thing I only drive around 300 miles/month...

BTW...gas is $3.53/gal here in the Aloha state! (on my island anyway...I hear gas is $4.50/gal on the island of Lanai...)

Yeah the tank is 23 gallons and with the prices you stated, I can see that happening

Yeah this was my exact same experience! I traded in my 1997 for a 2003. I was used to paying maxium on the most expensive gas when the tank was near empty, maybe up to $46, with the average closer to $38. When I did this for my new T4R, I was shocked at $62. I remember standing there going "Holy shit. You can stop at any time now. Aren't you full?" She was when she was done shaking my wallet upside down! So now I don't wait to fill up when it's close to empty. I fill up now just under less than half a tank, and it doesn't feel as painful.
