Do you mind sharing why it wasn't for you? I am thinking of getting one and would love your opinion on them.
The OP and I may differ a bit on our rationale, but here's my experience.
This was my second Front Runner rack, first one had on an 80 and it was fine. Loved the utility. I had a Gobi Stealth on my last 5th gen, zero issues with it. Went Front Runner this time for arguably increased functionality and table slide. The t-slot system is really fantastic, and overall it's lightweight and well engineered.
The wind noise of the Front Runner, versus the Gobi, on the 5th gen, was too much for me. Granted I had a super low profile mount, so maybe the air dynamics are different with the factory-fit mounts Front Runner provides. It's still a great system, but for me I wanted the quietness of the Gobi with their really nice fairing setup, so sold my rack to a fellow member (helped him install it) and have an order in with Gobi. You'll read that people mention the wind noise with the Front Runner, I wouldn't underestimate these statements, it's very much present. I've heard the aluminum racks that have the rails running lengthwise down the vehicle don't make as much noise, like Eezi Awn and Rhino rack does.
I almost went with a Baja flat rack after deciding to sell the Front Runner, but I
know the Gobi is quiet, so bit that bullet. Personally not a fan of the plate racks (prinsu, sso, etc) so those were never a consideration. Maybe I'll update my build with this info.
