Holiday day run in Alleghany National Forest in Northweatern, PA. 29December2017

T4R folks, I'm putting together a day trip for December 29th in and around the Alleghany National Forest in Northwestern PA. I posted details on Overlandbound.com under the OB East forum threads. Anyhow, if any T4R members in the area are interested, let me know. Still putting together a route and timeline.

Haven't registered on that site yet so I'll just post up a reply here. I'll plan to meet up at the 908 BP point.

0600 link up at BP at 908 exit off of Rte 28 hwy north, for anyone traveling from the burgh. 0700 link up at the BP on 68 north off of I80 west for all other travelers. This is near a walmart and a few eateries and gas stations for anyone needing to top off on food, fuel and other comforts.

From the 0700 link up point we will get back on I80 west to Rte 66 and then proceed to kellettville campground area thru Marienville. This is about an hour drive. The goal is to hit Kellettville around 0800 and have a solid days worth of light to explore. We will like use the trail way points that [MENTION=127578]pick[/MENTION] Teej provided in his link as a guide. If you're using Gaia, it's easily downloaded into gaia once you have the Dropbox app.

Since I'll unlikely get to do a pre-run, we will just have to be flexible with routes and potential locked gates. But, it should be a solid day.

Bring snacks, drinks etc... for stops on trail. Depending on the final trail route, we can circle back to the kellettville tavern or find something else to close out the day with a meal and a beer. Not sure yet how close the Westline Inn is, but that was always a favorite growing up.

Open to suggestions if any one has ideas or concerns.

I'll be running a CB. We can run channel 21 or 22 for starters.

T4R folks, I'm sorry to announce, but I'll be unable to lead, or attend this trip. I found out today my wife has to have an unplanned surgery on the 29th thus cancelling my plans that day and requiring our modification of our holiday travel plans altogether. I'm sincerely sorry and this was unforseen. I'll look to try this again upon my return from my pending in overseas work trip in March or April.

I found out today my wife has to have an unplanned surgery on the 29th thus cancelling my plans that day and requiring our modification of our holiday travel plans altogether. I'm sincerely sorry and this was unforseen. I'll look to try this again upon my return from my pending in overseas work trip in March or April.

Bummer. Hope the surgery goes well. I'm watching the Overland Bound thread, so I'll see if someone else takes the lead.

Yeah it didn't initially work for me either, but I cleaned it up and made a Google map for it. I'll work on it a bit more and share it here tonight. Should work with most phones now, or Gaia like was mentioned above

That's awesome. I am pretty open as to where to meet. My plan was to probably hit 28 and go up. I can be down here or somewhere on the way. (seem to remember a popular Sheetz up around where 28 turns into a 2 lane road).
Anyone know of the conditions up there? I saw a decent bit of snow on the other thread but that was last week. I should be good as long as it isn't too crazy. My tires aren't the greatest but I may fix that this week.
