Holy S@#t That Was Close

So I was driving to the bank today along sort of a back street and I see a school district truck pull up to the stop sign on my right in an intersection I am about to go through. This is a 2 way stop and he had the stop sign. Well the a-hole decided that he was not going to stop so thankfully there was no oncoming traffic and I swerved like a mutha to avoid plowing my passenger side into him.

I must say I am EXTREMELY impressed with the 4runners safety system as it kicked in about halfway through the swerve and did exacty what i wanted it to do - get me back out of the swerve. I was doing about 40 mph when this happened and I swerved into the opposing traffic lane then got right back into my lane and kept going.

THANKS TOYOTA FOR BUILDING THE BEST VEHICLE EVER!!!!!!

Wow! That was close, I too am greatful of Toyota's Safety System. A couple weeks ago, it was during lunch traffic hours. I was behind this truck on a 1 lane road and we were passing a gas station entrance. This truck in front of me decides to make a left turn into the station at the last minute. He hit his brakes and then delayed signal. However, the oncoming traffic lane was backed up. He had to wait for a left turn. I was going about 35-40, I don't remember how many yards (enough that I wasn't tailgating or rear ended this truck) I was behind. Meanwhile, there was gravel or dirt on the road. (close to a construction site) Well, I slammed on my brakes, ABS went off (pulsing) and I think Brake Assist worked. It felt like the brake force was much greater than I pressed down on the pedal. It saved me from running into the truck right infront of me.

The brakes are exceptional on this vehicle. I was about to hit them in my situation but that would have put me into this guy. I am amazed at how much braking power this beast has too. I know that all of us here truely love this vehicle but its these situations that make us realize just how safe we really are! I couldn't be any happier with a vehicle and I have never once experienced buyers remorse.

I also greatly appreciate the Safety System features Toyota has incorporated into the 4Runner. About a month after I purchased my 4Runner I was driving in a highway construction area. A person coming in the opposite direction suddenly swerved across the center line onto my side of the road. I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver to avoid the head-on collision. Needless to say lights on the dash were flashing and an alarm was going off all throughout the maneuver as the braking and stability systems kicked in and helped me out.

The safety systems are just one of the many reasons that have made me come to realize that buying the 4Runner was a wise decision and money well spent.

My Toyota's excellent brakes saved my arse from a rear-ender on Friday. I was getting close to entering the Ohio Turnpike and traffic was crawling on the entrance ramp. I was going about 20 mph and had glanced down at my road atlas to see where the service plaza was (indicated by that little gas pump next to the green road - LOL!). My son had to go pee-pee and I wanted to let him know how long it would be.

Anyway, I glanced back up and saw the back end of the car in front of me. I nailed the brake pedal, the ABS kicked in and brought the savage Toyota beast to a quick halt. Aside from the wide-eyed lady's face (driving the car ahead of me) visible in her mirror, nothing was damaged but my pride. Sure, 20 mph ain't that fast.....but it looks a whole lot different when the guy or girl in front of you has stopped!

Thanks, Toyota, for protecting me during a rare moment of inattentiveness. I am an excellent driver 99.9% of the time, but that .1% moment happens to all of us once in awhile. Kudos to the 2005 SR5 design team!!
