I'm in the same boat.......it says to push a reset button on garage door opener and then u got 30 seconds to push button in vehicle. Only problem is I can't find the reset button on garage door opener

My Genie has the learn button by where the lights are. You might be able to slide a screwdriver in to depress it, or take off the light shroud entirely. Fairly simple to do once that's done.

Even though it is a rolling code, still perform the couple of steps for the non-rolling code leading up to the rolling code instructions. That did it for me.

I remember mine being a bit tricky. I think I did something in the truck, then hit a button on the garage door door motor, then went back to the truck for the final piece. I think that last step was to hit the open button in your truck. keep pressing the button until it works.

Followed the instructions exactly with my old Grand Cherokee and the homelink would never program...

4Runner was done in a couple minutes, no problem...

Just read over the instructions again you'll get it!

Only problem is I can't find the reset button on garage door opener

If you know the model number (or can find it on the unit itself), you can probably find the owner's manual via a google search and that will likely have a diagram showing you where it is located.

If it doesn't have a reset (or learn) button) then perhaps your garage opener is not the rolling code type?:noidea:

I will try again. I am pushing the learn button and I actually did as non rolling code first then tried this. I am going to try parking right under it when I get home.

Just gotta try it again. Gotta program the remote frequency to the car then the car to the opener. If it's a genie screw drive then the learn button is behind the lenses just below and off to the side of the left bulb. It's a small round black button with a red led above it.

I have been pushing the learn button. I did have a time finding it. It's the same color as the body.
No, I won't park directly under the door. Lol
That would be a funny video to send in for 100,000 dollars

Just programmed mine last night. Trick was to keep pushing the homelink button until it works. Had to push it 5 or 6 times, not 3 that the instructions say. My genie has a square programming button right on the unit next to arrow limit set buttons. It is rolling code.

I tried it again but not that many times. I will try again when I get back from vacation. How close are you to the unit?

How to pair HomeLink to a rolling garage door opener.

If you bought your garage door in the last 15 years, it is most likely the rolling code type.

The manual is incorrect in how it tells you to do the pairing. You must first follow the steps of a non-rolling code type, to teach the HomeLink what the garage door opener remote is transmitting. Once you have followed that step, the button on HomeLink will have a different light blink sequence than before it was trained.

Once this step is complete, then go to the step where you hit the learn button on the opener and the button you trained on the HomeLink. Hit the HomeLink button at least 3x. This should finish the pairing.

I parked right under the opener on an angle and used my running board to reach the learning button. Finally found a youtube vid that helped some but took me a few tries.
