Homelink weirdness.

Last week I programmed my Homelink button to open my garage door. No problem, it picked up the garage door opener code on the first try. But the next day something strange happened. While I was locking the car from inside my house I heard the garage door open. I thought my girl friend was coming home but when I looked out she wasn't there. So I decided to see if I had opened the door when I pressed the lock button on the key fob since it happened at the same time as locking the vechicle. Sure enough the garage door closed. I tried this a little later and it worked again. Pretty cool feature I thought but unfortunately every time since then that I have tried using the key fob to open or close the door, nothing happens. I don't get it. Anyone with any clues to what is going on here? Thanks

Most current garage door openers use rolling code technology, so every so often, the code changes to prevent people from being able to hack the system. To my knowledge, the FOB uses one set frequency. Out of coincidence, when you setup your garage door opener, the frequency at the time must have been the same as the FOB but since then the garage door opener code has rolled on to a different one, thus the FOB no longer works.

Thats all I can think it would be but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Kinda makes sense about the rolling codes but if it is changing how does the car Homelink keep up with the changes?

Homelink works like a standard garage door opener remote and uses the same rolling code technology as the garage door opener.
