homemade ARB???

I have a coworker that does some really impressive welding as a side job and I have been talking with him about making me my own homemade version of an ARB type bumper. The problem he tells me is getting all your measurements right, the actual welding part is not at all hard. I've seen his work and it's good stuff. I looked on the ARB website hoping to find diminsions but found none. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get that info?

lol, thats all well and good but considering I don't have the measurements of the bumper I want to copy, thats like having a turd in a snowstorm now isn't it? Not much use and yet...there it is.

I have the exact same question wayneboard2

I want to make my own ARB because they are $$$$$ and my friend welds as well

i have looked every where to find measurments online but came up with none

I have also messaged people on this site with ARB's to ask a favor of measuring their own bumper but again noone has responded yet

please let me know if you find anything

I don't think you're going to get much help from ARB on this. It's like asking Microsoft to give you their code so you can make your own OS.

You might want to find someone who has an ARB and see if they'll measure it.

Save your pennies and just buy the bullbar. For what they are and do they are worth every cent.
It takes usually takes 6-10 weeks for arb to design a typical bar, and that is using all the lastest equipment and technology available. There are more than 20 parts making up the average bar and they are all either laser cut profiles folded on cnc press brakes or cnc bent tubes, so unless your welder buddy has access to sheet metal cutting and bending machines, your going to have alot of work to do. And after welding they get shot blasted, phosphate washed and powdercoated. That is why they will last 20 years easily.
I can tell you that the arb bullbar wings, pan and coverstraps are 3mm thick, the uprights, winch cradle and impact absorbers are 4mm, and the tubes are 47.6mm dia with 2.6mm wall thickness.
If you do try to make your own, start by making a prototype out of cardboard (cheap, easy to get, easy to work with, doesnt matter if you stuff up). Then use your final cardboard parts to get your sheet metal profiles.

i agree with techno, these bumpers are audi proof (see my earlier thread) ive hit tree's and rocks hard with this bumper and it takes it like a champ! ive hit a few different cars (3) and only the head on collision hurt it at all (new mounts and urethane bumper and its as good as new!) save up, and buy the ARB, there is a reason they are famous

however, if you need someone to take some measurements, i might be willing to take a few basic measurements if you tell me what you want measured
