homemade rocker build

I needed some rocker protection seeing as my 4runner is at stock height for now. I'm also on a very low budget so buying rockers wasent an option when I have a welder :) . so here is the start to finish of the rockers I built a couple days ago.

a little welding, an angle grinder, HF tube bender and a measuring tape is all it took. I know there should be more than 2 mounting points to the frame but I was in a hurry to get them done for the ride the next day. they are welded to 3''x3'' 1/4 plate and then welded to the frame.

the tubing is 11g 1x1/2'' and 1 and 5/16x.120 wall hrew.

I would have liked them to stick out a little further, but hey they where $45 in materials so I cant complain. what do Y'all think?

Looks good man. Get a couple
More supports in there I be safe.

I out a HUGE ass dent in my rocker yesterday. So much so that it broke the metal. Gotta figure out how to fix that one......

The craftsmanship looks pretty good but I would definitely add a 3rd leg to them before you use them. A way to test rock sliders is to use them as a jack point. I bet if you jack it up in the middle of the rock slider it will bend enough to contact the body.

Yeah a 3rd and 4th leg are going to be added soon. And the jack test is a good idea! I wasn't too worried about them over the weekend since I couldn't put it through too much, but they where there incase of the accidental bump and rub. They only saw very light use but served their purpose!

you could get away with just adding a third one and not going with 4. just make sure you add gussets instead of having straight tube to the body. that looks like the only real weak point

^^^ what he said. Gusset the mounts to the frame and add that 3rd and maybe 4th leg like everyone else said and you should be good.

Sorry forgot to update this. There is now 4 legs to the frame per side, I added 2 pieces of 1.5x1.5 11g square tubing in between the existing supports. They are all plated to 3in pieces of 1/4x3. Then welded to the frame.

The welder is just a little craftsman 110 and the bender was just a cheap HF bender.

And now i have a body lift on the way so i have to cut them off.....
