Homemade roof rack

I'm in Houston for work and am at a steel supply warehouse. My question is who has made their own roof rack? My welding is ok but it would be a fun project and the cost would be minimal.

I have a design for an aluminum, all bolt together (although not near as many fasteners exposed as another popular aluminum roof rack) with L track on the top for tying down, and solar panel incorporated over the sunroof area.
Should be working on it this weekend.

I built mine as well. 1" HREW tubing. Just need a tube notcher and bender. Not too hard, just very time consuming. Check out my thread for more pics.

This is awesome man i just built one very similar to this. What did you make your wind fairing out of im debating whether building something or just buying one
