Hood loose on drivers side

Hey all,

I just bought a 2002 black 4Runner with 50,000kms. First one I have ever driven, and I love it so far.

Have a quick question though. The hood seems loose on the front drivers side. I can lift it up slightly, and I can see it lifting up when I am driving down the highway. Is that normal? It doesn't look like it lifts up on the front passenger side. I have checked to make sure the hood is fully closed. Any suggestions?

Cheers.

I have the same issue with mine. The latch is in the center. The only thing that I can figure out is that the stops have been compressed and no longer touch the understid of the hood.....

I am fairly certain that the stops are adjustable, I seem to remember adjusting mine right after I bought it.

So if I can lift my one side of the hood up a bit, that means the stops are too low then I take it?
Will check that out after work also.

Just raising the stops fixed the problem. Thnx.

Mine does the same thing on the passenger side. So I'm guessing you just adjust the rubber stops? Did you have to adjust both or the same side or opposite side? I remember seeing the stops last time I was under the hood, but it'll have to wait til tomorrow afternoon. Thanks!

I had the same problem. The rubber stops are threaded so just twist them out. You might have to adjust both of them to keep the hood level with the fenders.

Yeah, it was not good. Here's the little fella this morning:

He was feeling much better...

i don't know why that made me laugh, i think that's how i was feeling last weekend after halloween. tell the kid to lay off the whiskey and he'll be fine, at least that's how i got better.

all and all he looks quite at least, thats always a good thing! hope you guys are oth on the up and up soon!

and back on topic, good to know it can be done by hand i'm going to do this in ten minutes......mark.

Yeah....made me laugh too! That's why I took the pic. He just started sleeping like that....butt in the air!

I will have to look at this next time I have my hood up. I notice when I drive that the back drivers side bounces a bit when driving. I thought maybe a spot weld had let go on the hood bracing but it might just be these adjustable rubber bumpers.
