Hood Protector Gone, removing bumpers/glue?

Driving back from Gatlinburg yesterday, the vibration finally got to be too much for me and everyone else in the car. After using multiple differently sized bumpers underneath it, I finally got fed up and just took it off.

I am happy with the way it looks, but now I can't seem to get the bumpers off. I want to get them off without damaging the paint, and then remove the glue that I am sure will be left behind on the hood. Any suggestions on products that won't damage the finish of the truck? Thanks guys.

I would pry them off gently with your fingers, they shouldn't be too hard to pop off. If they're really stuck on there, you might be able to "grab" them with a good pair of plyers and pull them off, but they shouldn't be tough to remove, really.

Then I'd use a mild citrus-based cleaner / degreaser to take off the residue. I don't like using acetone, varsol, methyl hydrate, etc, though these would likely work. But they can be hard on paint, so at a minimum, if you use a cleaner like this, put it on a rag instead of applying directly to the paint, rub the adhesive softly, and wash off any residue with soap and water as soon as possible.

Not sure what adhesive they used but applying some heat might help get them off. I often find the best thing for getting adhesive and other resinous gunk off the paint is mineral spirit on a rag -- it's about the strongest solvent I'll use on car paint. Make sure you wax/seal the area afterwards because the spirits will take the current wax/sealant off.
