Hood protector...worth it?

I'm considering getting a hood protector for my '03 T4R and I'm trying to determine whether it's worth the money. I've already got about a half-a-dozen rock chips in the hood, so that's why I was considering it. My hesitation (and my wife's) is that we don't want to bugger up the paint any further...case in point, when we had a '01 Civic (don't ask) we had a full bra on the front and it sanded the crap out of the hood. Wanna make sure we're not gonna have any trouble with this one.

I wouldn't expect so, since it looks like it's not actually touching the vehicle, only where it bolts on under the hood. Can someone who has it offer some input and maybe post some pics of the under hood mounts and exterior pics? Thanks!!!

yes, is worth it i got one on my 04.last week i order a 3m clear bra kit so that way i get full front protection can wait to put it on.

unless you've had experience putting on clear bra before, good luck applying it.. that stuff is hard to apply.. i'd recommend having it professionally done..

thanks for the advice but the pro going to charge me around $700(parts&labor) that's insane so i just have to really take my time doing it.

just a tip.. don't take too long.. if it gets too dry, it'll leave a lot of manipulation marks. you have to use its memory effect, stretch it.. it'll make applying it easier. but don't stretch it too much, as it'll distort the material. make sure you use the proper slip solution. to slippery, it won't stick quick enough. not slippery enough, it'll dry to fast. watch for contamination. very easy to get under there. make sure your fingers are wet before you touch the film. you'll leave fingerprints otherwise. make sure to wet it, just keep it wet unless you've already squeeged the portion. also, don't push on air bubbles with your finger. you'll have to take those out, some will dry out, but if its big, it won't and you'll have to remove them. best thing for them, if you have the proper squeege pass, then they won't appear. so, take your time, but don't take too long. its an involved process that you have to be careful with. keep in mind that the film can be quite temperamental.

how much were you thinking of getting done?

just an fyi, their pricing is usually based on area, experience, car, application, etc. the more you have done, the more it would cost, and the more hours it would take to get done. a lot of the time, more intensive labor too. especially when you start having one piece bumpers. those take time. the film isn't cheap either.

but good luck, be patient.

thanks again for the great tips i thought everything going to cost me around $300-$400 bought the kit on ebay for $166+shipping
i guess that's not too bad, i'll try to post some pictures when is done.
