Hood scoop for 3rd Gens

you could.....but i bet it would be expensive. i think you should try a salvage yard first, and save yourself some money.

It really does look good. I didn't realize that some 3rd gens had hood scoops until the other day. Anybody got any guesses as to the price from a dealer? I'm already planning to get a brush guard, taillight guards, new head unit, CD changer, and that hood.
This is getting kinda pricey...

Yeah, I saw another one today, it really looks good. I'll have to check out Jaos.
EDIT: That spoiler looks really sharp. I might have to pick one up, but it'll be down the line. My 4Runner is completely stock, so I have a long list of things to do to it. And a long list is an expensive list. Did you get your spoiler painted at the dealer?

Ya Zack, I took the spoiler to a local auto body specialist, they charged me $100.00 to paint it. It is worth it to take it to a pro though. They took the paint code off my door and made the spoiler look like a factory part. It looks so sharp! Other people in town with the same year runner always look twice. If you go to the JAOS homepage, ckeck out the billet aluminum grill for the 4runner. I odered it recently, I can't wait to get it. I have done quite a bit to the exterior of my runner, I am about to start on the interior. Beware! Putting aftermarket parts on your runner is very addicting. It is the hottest looking SUV out there when tricked out with the endless list of aftermarket extras. I'm working on getting some pics posted. Let me know if you need any ideas. Pete

PM member "bamachem" or send him an email (too) as he recently put a scooped hood on his 4Runner and has all the part numbers, what it cost etc. He did the painting himself and it looks nice!

Sounds like a good deal on the scoop. I am very dissapointed with my order for a billet grill for my runner. I ordered the part on 4/6 and they are just know telling me it will take 5 to 6 weeks to special order from Japan. I am very upset, but couldn't find that grill anywhere else. So I told them to order it anyway and I'll have to wait untill summer to enjoy it. The company is eautoworks.com. Needless to say this will be the last time I deal with them.

Can you believe that? 5 to 6 weeks! I mean, what are they doing with it? Are they making the grill from scratch and then sending it? What gives? How can you list an item for sale and then say we have to special order it from Japan? Not to pleased, But you are right, it will look great I think. PETE

So what other stuff do you have planned for your truck? I've got to get my front windows tinted, and get a tint sunshield on the windshield.
Then I'm thinking some 17" wheels, probably sometime this summer.

Future Mods?
Well, I really don't know if I will add anything else to the exterior because I don't want to overkill the look. As you can probably guess, my Runner is pretty much a street only truck. I do tow a boat with it, but have never taken it offroad. I had a 93 Runner before my 99 and took it offroad a little. They are great offroad trucks. My 93 had a completly different look to it though. It had big noisy oversize wheels and it had factory graphics. It was still a very sharp looking ride, but I decided to upgrade at 150,000 miles. I will put pictures up when I get my scanner hooked up again. As far as the interior goes though, I was thinking about some indiglo gauges and then possibly some TRD performance parts for the engine. I just rolled 40,000 miles on my 99, so I have plenty of time to deck it out. Let me know when you get your new hood. Take care, Pete
