Hood Scoop Insert

Anyone notice that hood scoop on the sport editions is actually just for looks? Has anyone actually made this a functional component on the vehicle by removing the insert and routing the air to the engine? If so I would love to see how and some pics!

Do a search since this is a very talked about subject but if you want me to save you some time it's just not worth the trouble for pretty much zero performance gain not to mention the crap that'll find it's way into your engine bay.
