Hey everyone, i had an idea to get the hood scoop painted white instead of the standard black. I also had them paint the last piece that sits on the bumper white. I like it, but tell me what yall think. Here are some different pics with different views. Ive never seen it done b4, maybe ill start a trend! LOL

Yeah i like your truck Mark, i like those bull bars you have, looks good on yours. here is another pic of the front hood scoop. They also painted the last strip along the bumper. Notice i put a square around it in the pic. That used to be black.....
Maybe you should start a new thread to discuss this. It is pretty interesting and I think a lot of people will have opinions. This thread is already really long and it would be cool if it remained a picture thread. With that said, I'm still going to comment, and I'll delete this post and put it in that new thread if you start one.

I didn't like the painted hood scoop based on this pick: http://get.yourfile.net/?fm5479

But after seeing this pick: http://get.yourfile.net/?td5604 I am warming up to it and the jury is still out. It makes it look even more like a storm trooper that some people have referenced.

This second piece that was painted looks incredible: http://get.yourfile.net/?jc5605 I would definitely do this if I didn't already have a black 4runner.

Although I think it looks great on your truck, I think painting it takes away from the illusion that the hood scoop is actually functional. We all know it's not, but I kind of like mine in black. The contrast retains the illusion and make the hood scoop look more aggressive. ( Just my 2 cents...)

I had that thought also

Yeah i was thinking that when i was going to get it done, then i found an air induction kit that does actually make it functional. So as soon as i have enough $$$$$ then i am going to get that. Then the only thing that will be white is the grill. It wont have the back piece behind it. So well see what that will look like. thanks for your imput, thats why i posted it.

heres another random shot i took at night

Can you post a link or any more info? Thx. I'm replacing my Limited's hood with a Sport's and would like to do this at the same time if I like the kit.

So what makes you think that this kit makes the hood scoop functional? You would need some heavy modifications to make this functional. All this kit does, like every other air intake kit, is replace your stock air box.

As I said in the 03/04 pictures thread, it looks great on your truck. I don't know how it would look on mine with the grey cladding though. Anyway, you raised some great ideas!!

ehhhh, I'm not really a fan. It makes the hood scoop look fake. At least it looks functional when it's black. But hey, if you like it thats what is important.

Good Question

When i was at the dealer getting that painted i was asking if there was such a thing as making the scoop functional. He(the parts manager) said that he had seen it done, he told me to search the internet b/c from him it would like 600 bucks. So i did and that is the only thing i found. So according to him, the dealership can do it. And if i find the parts for cheaper they could put it on. Ill talk to him on Monday, and ask again for sure.

Thx. I look forward to hearing the verdict. Ask him a manufacturer and if he has done it to a 4th gen if you can. Good luck.
