Hood Scoop Question

fount this on ebay and was wondering if this was pretty close to a factory scoop? i'd wanna paint it my factory color and was wondering if that would be a lot cheaper then having to buy a new hood from factory with the scoop

Remember a stick-on will always look like a stick-on and IMO will look cheap on a 4Runner even if it doesn't do a thing just like the factory hood.

Toyota guys will also snicker when they see it;if you're going to add "rice" then just stick with the factory "rice". :p

If it was me I'd just stick with the plain hood til I came across a deal.
 
Sloan, listen carefully...please do NOT buy that. Like Ron said, a stick on will always look just like that - a stick on. You'll get by reemed by other Toy owners if you slap a stick on scoop on your runner.

I've got a friend who's got something similar "stuck" on the hood of his Chevy 1500. It looks like crap and I give him hell about it every time I see him.

Just b/c it's a cheaper solution to a real sport hood, that does not mean it's a good thing. Save up and buy a real sport hood...you'll be so glad you did. :D

sure its easy for you two to say since you both actually have them...theres a sport for sell in town now, i was jealous
 
Does anyone knows where i can get a hood w/the scoop and a very reasonable price? I got one of those stick on and you guys are exactly right about it but it will do for now. It looks good from a distance though .
 
I sold my '97 just for a scooped '99. ;)

Actually I didn't just for the scoop,the '99 was just so better eqipped including a rear locker and sunroof plus all the ergonomic upgrades of the '99 made it an easy desicion.

Say that I go with the REAL hood scoop route and buy the real hood scoop from Conicelli Toyota or another dealer, what is the "OTHER STUFF" that is required. I have read almost all the threads on here and on YotaTech about the hood scoop and everyone has said to buy the hood scoop and "OTHER ATTACHMENTS." My question is what are these other attachments. Thanks for the help fellas.

Sloan, even if I didn't have one, I would not simply "stick on" a fake scoop. Save your money and buy the real thing. The girls might not notice, but the guys will :D

This (among many other reasons), was why I searched around and bought a Sport 4Runner. Trust me, I once had "scoop envy" too. :)

I second on not buying the fake scoop!

Rock Slide - the ladies do know. i myself dont mind the guys laughing at me, but if a women points while laughing then i would just hide.
 
alright, i know this is gonna sound really newbie of me, but why cant you just buy the hood with the scoop, take off ur old one, and throw on the scooped one?
 
I had a shop do it. It's not prefect on matching up but locks fine and it hard to notice. Its just a little higher then the fenders like a couple of mm.
 
I thought it was as easy as just replacing the existing hood with a scoop hood, guess not.

My apologies Rock, I did read that thread awhile back but wasn't sure if someone kept updating it. It was in the later part of the thread that missed. Anyway, thanks for the answer, much appreciated.
