hood scoop

I would love to...but I don't think you can just put a scoop on the hood. I think the hood is made with the scoop already in it. If not, let me know.

wel i know you can definitely get one put on... but i think you're right about the scoop already being on the 4runner... getting an after market one would take a body shop i would guess...

my guess would be just to buy an OEM painted Sport Edition hood that comes with the hood scoop. Shouldn't the dimensions be the same as the SR5? Correct me if I'm wrong.

btw, I think your XSP would look nice w/ the scoop.

The dimensions should be exactly the same for 03-05 and 06-current. They changed the headlights on the 06 and up and grill shape. The 06 & up sport editions also have a smoked chrome grill.

Koz has a Sport hood on his Limited. So it should be no problem putting one on a SR5.

LL21 is correct. You would have to replace the entire hood. It is not just an add on.

Please don't put one of those adheasive type aftermarket hood scoops on. It will peel in time and they just don't look right on many vehicles. They just look cheap.

Since you already have the body colored grill all you need is the hood and you can attach your current grill to it. I believe the grills look better body colored. A couple members have already done that.

Any ideas on the price of a whole new hood?

Here is a link to Conicelli Parts Center.

03-08 SE Hood = $333.21

I would guess painted to match would bring the total up to around $500.00

Here is one from Ebay. I am not sure of the quality, but with Shipping it is around $200

Maybe $350 painted.

I guess that part of the hood is the same from 03 to current. I thought the headlights were shaped differently on my 08 hense the hood would be slightly different. Maybe it is the fender that is different??????

With either one I would guess you would need the other small parts to complete the scoop portion, the mesh and backing plate ect...

You might have some luck with a local late model junk yard. Maybe find a SE 4Runner that was rearend.

Keep in mind that this is not a functional hood scoop... The best function many describe for this hood scoop is a "bug catcher" I guess it's really good at catching and keeping rather large bugs which makes it more fun to clean out.

if you really want it to be functional, get one and cut out the hole, sand down the edges and make it nice and smooth, get some mesh and cover up the hole so crap doesn't get in there.
