I cant find any 1998's with hood scoops, so i was wondering if there were any made for this year and were i can find one. If not, does a 99-2002 hood fit the 98 and where could i find one of those? thanks, and pics to please if you have one with Anthracite Metallic
Non were made for the 96 to 98 models, but the hood is a perfect fit if you wanted one, certifit.com sells them cheap but its primed and local pick up only.
No hood insulators till 99, im sure he could get some mesh and just make it work in the scoop, instead of paying $150 for some crap he doesnt need. The hood i think is $55.You also need the scoop insert w/ hardware, not sure if that's included with Certi Fit. The hood insulator is different too but you can use your old one. The hood has catalyst system info and wiring diagram stickers that you may want to get for the new hood

Yeah dude, any hood from any year 4Runner 96-02 will interchange.
I searched pretty extensively to find the best deal, the scoop I had to buy from Toyota as it's just not produced aftermarket...

Ok, so why would you take a scooped hood that is open and letting in air functionally and then cap it off and make it fake??
throw some mesh in there with a cut piece of furnace filter behind it and reap the benefits of your engine and intake getting more air...
paint if you wish!![]()
I think if you saw what it looks like without the insert you might think otherwise. Even if it was functional.. what'll it cool? The firewall or the back of the throttle body? Apparently our scoop wouldnt flow much air anyhow, similar to the bed of a truck how there's a little trapped air pocket.
not trying to sound like a jerk but I dont know how else to put it
If you throw some mesh like what people put on the back of their grills like Duhockey just said and i said earlier, you wouldnt even notice the difference between it and stock, and then it is somewhat functional and is $150 cheaper.
