I too have a 05 and I have been using a pair of vise grips to hold the hood up for a couple of years. Today I fixed them.
My originals had no specs on them but I drove it down to NAPA and they took a measurement while they were still on the truck and got me close with a pair of NAPA TURBOLIFT 819-5672. They were the middle pressure of the three at that same length. We went with the middle since too weak is no good and too strong and you could bend the bolt mounts on the hood or firewall when you pulled the hood down against too much pressure.
Install requires a 12 mm wrench to remove the struts, a screw driver to pry back the retaining clip on the new ones, a dremel tool with a small cut off wheel to grind a channel into the old strut ends to open them up and get the bolt with the ball on the end out, and a crow bar to grab the ball end bolt and leverage against the old strut to pop it out. Once out re install the bolts and then apply a bit of grease and finally pop the new struts on. They were approximation $55 for the pair. NOTE - the ones I got are a little over pressure and a tiny bit longer so you may want to try the next step down in pressure and a bit shorter unless you take one off to match the length.
FWIW these work fine but when you pop the hood it lifts against the stay and you have to push it down a bit to get it to release. You may want to try the lighter ones v/s these.
