Hood struts not keeping hood up

I had to give a jump to my friend's car this morning and when I opened the hood it wouldn't stay up. After pushing it up several times it finally stayed up. Has anyone had the same issue and did you get it replaced under warranty at the dealer?

Thats only covered by the 3/36 warranty. Get yourself some new ones or some vise grips.
