Hood vents, nice ones

Would they help our trucks, for example on summer road trips.. they would help get the hot engine bay air out.

Exactly. Vents just help treat a symptom, not a problem.

That being said, I had the vent from a 2010 Shelby in the hood of my 1st Gen. It had some cooling issues that I didn't end up curing until I swapped to engine number 3.

Not the cheapest option but, get an OEM sport hood with all the bells and whistles, then cut out a section of the air dam and put a cut section from an old air filter in it. At least that's what I did. Never did have a problem with it over heating, but I did notice slightly lower running temps on torque (like scan gauge for android) and I can see heat pouring out of it at red lights.
