hood wont close

Woke up this morning with my hood poped. My hood will shut but I can pop the hood without pulling the latch from inside. I know I can buy a new latch but any suggestions on how I can fix it.

make sure the latch handle inside is pushed all the way back in

Happened to me too. Seems my release cable was clogged up with crud and bound up. I was able to lube the crap out of it and work it back and forth until it sprang back into position a bit better. Definitely check that release lever. If it is sitting up even a little with the hood open, then you have the same issue.
I suppose I should look into replacing the cable. has anyone done that?

i have had the problem so many times and it is in fact what was mentioned above, dirt gets into the return spring in that latch. just take a flat blade screwdriver and scrap all of the dirt out of the latch area near spring and clean out as best as you can and spray some lube in there and work it back and forth to loosen it up and try to open and shut the hood a few times after it frees up some. should be go to go after that.

2x on this advice, only i used some brake cleaner to degrease it all.

Im having the same problem but it's definitely not the latch mechanism, it has to be the cable, has anyone changed this cable, any advise?
