Hoodscoop - other uses

I notice that the hood scoop on the SE is great for catching Cicadas... Since they've been around, I've caught a couple in the scoop while driving on the highway. Am I the only one

Is this with or without a hood wind-deflector?

It's without the deflector. I'm looking at buying the Canadian version for when the little buggers resurface in 17 years  :D

Just a note after the thread about bug deflectors. I noted that our 2003 seemed to collect lots of bugs on the windshield. Well, shortly after that, I bought a Weathertech bug deflector (and cargo liner) and the amount of bug goo I have to clean off the windshield is significantly less than before the bug deflector.

The cargo liner fits real nice too.

Yeah, those deflectors work pretty well. I bought one from Toyota for my '98, and I no longer have to worry about cleaning bug guts from my windshield whenever I travel up and down Cali. :)

I just put a scoop on my truck, and already caught a big ol bug in it. The funny thing was, it was intact, and didn't leave a mess when I pulled it out of the grille of the scoop.

I put Blue lights in my hood scoop

I know what you mean about the cicadas... I just spent an hour cleaning them off the from of my rig...

At the rate I'm killing them on I66, their won't be enough of them left to come back in 17 years...
