Has anyone seen a pair of these installed before?

I am wondering if they are any good. Hate the look of the aftermarket running boards that are out there. I know these would still cut down on clearance but might look a little better. Wish I could see them on a 5th 4R. I know Nfab makes the ones for the TE that are somewhat close (step wise), but not for the other trims.

I've hit the wall with running boards....it has been a whole year.

My final choice is to buy the Rocky Road Rock Sliders (ordered today) and put my own step/running board on it. Once the frame is finished it'll be covered with aluminum diamond plate. I will take final measurements and supply them to forum members as requested (for the step part)

I think you get a lot bang for the buck with the RR's, and their designed to fit our trucks. If you can picture a continous step coming off the main beam of the slider....that's where I'm going. Sorry for the hijack...just tryin to throw some other thoughts at you....I'm as frustrated as you!

Looks like they may mount to the body.. and not the frame.. I like my Shrockworks Rock Rails... if anything you can ask for Jim to add two step-downs on them. That way you're mounted to the frame and actually can count on some protection/weight resistance from them. Just a thought.... Either way you'll likely have to cut or remove your rocker panels. I replaced mine with TE rockers and front fender flares. BFLAN cut his. I still have my Limited rockers laying around which can be trimmed. I tried to notch mine, didn't notch them enough and abandoned the project at that point for the TE rockers.

Ha, yeah I have had my finger on the trigger for the RR Super Sliders for the past couple weeks but keep stopping myself. I think they are great, would just love more of a 'step' area (although I know that is not the intent of the design). I like your idea of having something added. I know I could ask him to do it, but I think I would want to install them 1st to really see what I wanted and where. I think your comment actually just finally made up my mind!

Yes, they do mount to the underside of the rocker panel, which I would be ok with, depending how much flex there was. Glad you like your Shrockworks, but with the RR that they just released they will fit the SR5/LE without any modification to the rocker panel, which is good for those of us who want the protection but not to 'chop' the 4R just yet.

I have waited a year (officially in 6 days) and nothing good to the market. I actually thought that with the release of the 11's and the same body/frame that companies would be all over it since nothing changed, oh well.

Looks like RR will be able to get a larger Turkey for Thanksgiving this year!

If I were still your age, I'd feel a little better about hitting those everytime I get in and out..:ybrick:

but really, all kidding aside...the longer step/running board will be a better sell for the rock rails...especially concerning the better half, and for using and loading the future roof rack mod!

Hmm.....I wonder if the FJ Cruiser Rock Rail Steps will fit on the RR SS!? I honestly only need the steps for my wife, 2nd trimester right now. Having something that I can remove later would be perfect. Nice find, I have a feeling I will be searching FJ forums to find photos of people who have installed them, hopefully give me an idea if I can 'make them fit' onto the ones I want! Thanks!

I know this original post is old but wanted to put it out there(since I haven’t seen anything about them) in regards to hoop steps. I installed a pair of Carr II on my 2014- even though the manufacturer say it’s not compatible. I’ve had them on for a few weeks and are very solid. I don’t foresee any issues with them in the future.
