It sounds like a grave overreach of an oppressive government, but it’s actually a good thing. Local leaders know what’s best for their particular situations. It seems that narrow sidewalks in that one area caused people to bump into each other when passing. So they made those sidewalks one way.

During this epidemic some of my local parks have assessed user traffic on popular single track hiking trails and designated a few of them with one way signage. These trails are typically two to three feet wide and can have a very steep downslope on one side, so no way to maintain six feet of clearance. It’s a good call for safety, not abusive tyranny.

We have one way signage here in WA as well, for the parks that have a circular trail system.

It's a simple modification to get the best of both worlds; social distancing and fresh air.

I don’t think we could. But something else all of those countries did was lock down their immigration immediately and completely.

It would seem the Global Health Security Index disagrees with Wired. They ranked countries in Oct 2019 based on their preparedness for a pandemic. The US is the top-ranked country with an overall preparedness rating of 83.5/100.

South Korea is #9 at 70.2/100.
Japan is #21 at 59.8/100.
Singapore is #24 at 58.7/100.

Of the 6 categories in which all countries were ranked, the US landed #1 in Prevent, Detect, Health, and Norms. We landed at #2 in Response, and #19 in Risk.

Thanks for that article. I’m working my way through the report and it’s disturbing. The WHO is one of the organizations researching and dealing with this, I sure hope the federal govt doesn’t defund them.

And I THINK they killed one doctor (maybe more?) for going public. Supposedly he died of the virus. If that's true, I'm guessing they injected him with it. Just my opinion because I don't believe China's government can be truthful.

Yeah, let's stop doctors and nurses from getting to hospitals and family members from getting to their loved ones by blocking the roads. Selfish POS is what those protesters are. F#@K those MAGA freaks hard.

Sounds like the protesters are a bit uninformed about where to protest.
 
My question is.In those videos they show the China men in sealed bio hazard gear spraying "smoke" as to be disinfecting the area of the virus. What exactly are they spraying, just dry ice smoke!?!? How come they aren't using that in NYC if that works & why haven` t the Chinese shared what they're using???:twitch::mmph::wow::shrug::wtf:

Preferably somewhere that has no cell reception. I'm doing my part and i'll leave the wife at home too, just to make sure i'm doing it right.

I'd double check before you go. Local rules might catch you by surprise if Utah is on your itinerary. Southern Utah is mostly turning people away. State and national parks are closed. The southern Utah state parks say that they are turning away between hundreds and thousands of people per day from the entrances. Out of county residents are not allowed. I'd check before you go.

There are probably some great places to go explore, but you have to know that there's a million other people doing the same thing. So it's going to be crowded and everywhere you think is remote - so will everyone else. I would take along a porta-potty of some sort because you probably won't be able to use any public restrooms. All the ones I've seen around here are closed and locked up. Most of the gas stations are not allowing anyone to physically come inside.

It doesn't really do anything because the virus doesn't last long on surfaces. Mostly for show I think. Probably would actually be better if it was just dry ice smoke. I think what they're using is benzalkonium chloride. It's a pretty common chemical ingredient in medial antiseptics. I think it's found in things like cough drops. My cousin is an engineer for a firetruck and ambulance manufacturer. They've built sprayers for use on fire truck equipment for it at the request of some customers (cities or counties I think). Not sure if anyone's actually used any of them though in the USA. Not that I'm aware of. I think it's just cheap and readily available and will do the job if necessary.

When you have large uneducated populations - sometimes the show is more important than the function. Those streets are fawking disgusting already, so maybe it won't hurt to disinfect for all the other stuff like ecoli and hepatitis that are probably all over the streets and sidewalks in fecal matter being tracked around. Visit a public Chinese bathroom once - hell, just go into a public bathroom at a national park after a Chinese tour bus and you'll understand why shoes never enter the home.

That may sound good, and seems logical, until...…….you get hurt, or stuck, or sick. Then the first responders have to come to your aid. And you infect them. then it snowballs in an area that doesn't have the infrastructure to handle the hoards of people who descend on them. In my area, there are enough beds to handle a few skiers and one car accident. Then the hospital is full. then what? I took a riding buddy to the hospital in Moab during an allergic reaction attack. they could only handle a few of those emergencies per day. So if you go, you may be on your own. If you come down with a fever during the night, do you really think they want to help you. When you were told not to come? And you are probably infecting them? And you can be contagious for maybe 6 days before you have any symptoms. WE are all stuck in the same deal. It's going to be a long time before we get used to the new normal.

To be fair, the WHO has parroted CCP talking points and seems to be covering for them.

Tedros said, “China has done many good things to slow down the virus. The whole world can judge. There is no spinning here.” But in reality, China’s initial cover-up, disinformation campaign, and propaganda cost the rest of the world dearly. And they are STILL not telling us correct numbers at all.

Remember, the CCP was saying that there’s no person-to-person transmission to worry about on Jan 14th, a claim repeated by the WHO, when again in reality, they have traced confirmed cases back to Nov 17th.

Recall also the study that said if China had acted 3 weeks sooner instead of working to cover it up, it could have reduced the worldwide outbreak by 95%, and this other paper I already shared which shows that China’s number of infected is probably closer to 3M people.

You and I agree that the CCP is not the world’s friend. And it seems there is an argument to be made that the WHO is covering up for them, or at the least repeating false CCP talking points. We fund the WHO to the tune of $400M+ per year. China pays about a tenth of that. Is it not time to rethink how much money we send them?

Disinfecting public spaces definitely is more for psychological reasons than biological ones. Do you think the janitorial staff at a nuclear power plant ever wipes down the keyboards and mice in the control room? No way they're going to risk some Three Mile Island incident with an inadvertent keystroke. Yet keyboards are -from and infectious disease standpoint- the nastiest things on the plant.
