hey guys,

about 10 minutes ago, I saw the news about a major earthquake that struck Japan and it wasn't a small one. It was an 8.9.

Hope everyone is safe out there, I have friends and family out in the Asia region and for a moment, it was an scary 20 minutes trying to get a hold of them.

My best wishes go to the Japanese people and all living in the affected areas. Also, people in the West Coast and Hawaii were affected by the resulting Tsunami, and I hope everyone came out safe.

Sendai has Toyota, Honda and Nissan factories, and I think the earthquake probably disrupted production. I hope everyone comes out fine.

I'm watching a good documentary right now on Japan's mega quake on Discovery channel.

'Devastating' is a gross understatement!

It could have happened anywhere and what's really scary is that they are **much** more prepared than we are.

Thoughts go out to them.

The PBS show "Nova" did an awesome episode on the quake a couple weeks after the quake. Tons of info with a lot of horrifying footage of the tsunami. Places with 30' sea walls that were absolutely swamped by the sea offering no protection and coastal areas that dropped up to 6' from the quake. Some shots of huge tug boats and buses atop buildings 50' above sea level (due to the wave backing up from mountains just off the shore). A quick google search for a torrent will bring it up if anyone is interested.
