hoping for a quick response! help!

hey all, screwing around with the car today but i left a lot of auxiliaries enough during these couple hours the battery died. anyways, i got it jumped by my neighbor and drove to get something to eat. as soon as i turned it off it went dead again...here's the thing, my roomate comes in about 15 minutes later and says my cars clicking, i pop the hood and find it's coming from the fuse box in the engine, i narrowed it down where the clicking was coming from and saw it was a box labeled "HEAD" by the box cover. i'm going to buy a new battery first thing in the morning, am i okay letting it click overnight? i have no idea what the thing is and what exactly is clicking. any suggestions please let me know, i have a feeling in the back of my mind my car is dying more every minute

also, when i go tomorrow, any suggestions on batteries? cheaper the better, thanks in advance

jump it again, this time let it run for 30 mins or more.. drive around, do whatever you need to do.

the battery didnt have enough time to charge.

try this before you go buy a new battery.

as for batteries, cheaper is rarely the better! i have an optima 34R, its been awesome -- long life, never felt it go weak. it was $130 or so i think.

and i meant since i'm in college and all, the cheaper the battery the better for my pocket. if i was able i'd be getting the optima red top but i'm trying to save as much as possible so i'm looking for a good cost-efficient battery

All you need is a bunch of "D" cell batteries, some wire and a bunch 'o' duct tape. Car batteries are for chumps. ha ha

when my sister got into her accident the car had sat for months with the negative battery cable unhooked the battery is a few years old its a interstate and most of the time there dead but to my surprise the car cranked over the first try so for a cheap battery it did pretty good at holding a charge

ps...hope BVG and the eagles are gonna be ready for this weekend. I will be rollin into the 'boro at around midnight or so friday.

a somewhat related question,

i've been advised by some people not to get or give 'jump starts' to or from my car cause it may damage the internal computer or similar sensitive electronics.

is there any truth to that?

you wouldn't by chance have the tools to help me complete the deckplate mod would you? i've been waiting on my friend for the past few weeks but he's so busy with rushing he's nothing but a flake. if you could that would be insane. let me know.

and hell for that matter, the isr mod too. i went out yesterday to look at it and the only outcome i can see is damaging my car

dont reverse the terminals. thats all. besides that its fine.

I wont have any of my tools with me and I will have three guys with me so I probably wont have the time to get away before I leave town Sunday morning. Otherwise I would be game but I probably cant help ya out this time around. If you can score a jigsaw from someone then the deckplate mod is pretty straight forward. The ISR mod is even easier.

Man everyone keeps on saying that! I have no idea what the hell to do, and everytime I go to Dr. Z's writeup i get even more confused. I was about to do the cheap duct tape method but he has so much stuff after that.....i just feel stupid. after posting my own thread about it and getting the most straightforward responses i'm still left confused, someone help!!!!!!!!!

Deckplate mod simplified

Step 1 - Unplug EFI Fuse
Step 2 - Unplug MAF
Step 3 - Remove Airbox
Step 4 - Remove Filter
Step 5 - Line Airbox with plastic
Step 6 - Trace outline of Deckplate
Step 7 - Cut
Step 8 - Clean up cuts/ insert deckplate + screw tight
Step 9 - Remove plastic and wash out airbox
Step 10 - 13 : reverse steps 1-4

Well I gave a guy a jump start and he connected the cables wrong. It sparked a little when he did this. I immediately discnnected the cables on my end. The next morning my T4R was completly dead. No horn, no headlights, nothing. I was convinced that the problem was him crossing the terminals. My mehanic said I had to have left something on. I knew I didn't. They charged my battery up and sent me on my way. Well I was running an errand tonight and everything dimmed down and the the gauges freaked out. The ABS light came on. I took off and hauled ass home. My battery light does not work apparently because my alternator is fried. Damn toyota. Everyone I call, "uh.....we'll have to order it."

Is it possible to not be spending hundreds a month to keep this thing running and driving like normal.

check your fuses!!!!!!!

you probably / DEFINITELY blew a few.

NEVER REVERSE THE TERMINALS, you can fry the computer too... be VERY VERY careful.

Well it drove fine the rest of the day. But I guess it was just running off the battery. How hard is it to pull my gauge cluster out to replace the warning light for the alternator? Mine never lights up even when I start it.
